Half Marathon CourseCommencing from the Ohope Christian Fellowship church, participants will embark on a captivating journey across 5 kilometers of exquisite New Zealand farmland and native bush, culminating at the summit of Burma Road. Upon reaching this pinnacle, athletes will be guided by a marshal to turn around, retracing their steps along the same scenic route they traversed to reach this point. This track offers athletes a distinctive opportunity to soak in breathtaking vistas along a well-trodden gravel road, flanked by majestic nikau palm trees and an array of other natural wonders.

Starting at one of New Zealand's most cherished beaches, the half marathon route begins at the Ohope Christian Fellowship Church, located on Maraetotora Road, with a scenic journey along 6 kilometers of gravel road, bordered by picturesque farms and native New Zealand bush. As participants traverse this initial stretch, they'll be treated to stunning views of their surroundings. Upon reaching Fairbrothers Bush Track, athletes will transition onto a 4-kilometer single trail through the bush, offering breathtaking vistas of Ohope, Whale Island, and White Island. The course then descends into a 1-kilometer downhill segment, marking the halfway point of the race. At this juncture, at the foot of Burma Road, opposite Ohope Road, relay runners will take the reins for the second leg of the race.
The latter half of the course begins with a challenging ascent up Burma Road, followed by a scenic route through New Zealand's captivating bushland. Athletes will navigate a single trail track, eventually leading them to White Horse Drive in Whakatane. Upon reaching this point, participants will reverse direction, retracing their steps along the same track back to Burma Road. Once back on Burma Road, athletes will turn right and embark on a 2-kilometer downhill stretch toward Maraetotora Road. From here, it's a final 2.5 kilometers along a flat gravel road to the triumphant finish line. 10km CourseCommencing from the Ohope Christian Fellowship church, athletes, including families with prams and participants of all abilities, will embark on a 2.5-kilometer journey along a solid gravel road, immersing themselves in the breathtaking landscapes of farmland and native bush. Upon reaching the base of Burma Road, participants will make a turnaround, retracing their path back to the starting point. This scenic route promises a captivating experience as athletes journey back along the same track to the exhilarating finish line. |
